Why would I choose the P6417 over the other P6400 series probes?

The P6417 is a general purpose probe that will attach to square pins using eight channel headers or leadsets for individual connections. Unlike the P6418, the headers on the P6417 have the ability to break apart into individual channel connections that can span approximately 20” compared to 8” for the P6418 probes. It is also a good choice for tougher environments as it uses a nylon protective sheathing along its thicker coaxial cabling.
