Is the 80E04 a direct replacement for the SD24?

No, the 80E04 was designed for CSA8000, TDS8000 and DSA8200 series. In addition, it will not physically fit in the 11801C and CSA803C sampling head compartments. Likewise, the SD24 will not function in an 8000-series or 8200 series oscilloscopes.
